As the outer race of a spherical roller bearing is a sphere the bearing does not support moment loads. Therefore, the tilting angle has to be defined instead of a moment load. The distance between both rows is determined the contact angle and the pitch diameter. In contrast to the other bearing types, the nominal diametral clearance is only applied to the inner race.

The radius of inner race, outer race and roller can be specified as ratio to the nominal diameter of the outer race: . Default parameters are: fe = 0.5; fi = 0.5; fr = 0.485. If the radius for the outer race is chosen differently, the bearing cannot tilt freely anymore.
