# Normal module

The normal module defines the size of the teeth. A standard tooth thickness is $m_n\cdot\pi/2$, the reference diameter is $d = zm_n/\cos\beta$.

Instead of the normal module the diametral pitch can be used, this is $Pd = \frac{1}{m_n}\frac{25.4 {\rm mm}}{\rm in}$
